Artist Statement
Giorgi Kavelashvili is a contemporary painter and drawing artist based in Tbilisi. His work exists within the realm of abstraction, where each painting becomes an attempt to touch what lies beyond time and visible reality. He intuitively seeks the invisible energy, state, and source that flows through all existence. His paintings serve as visual meditations on the metaphysical, as well as an endless process of searching and transcending the limits of visible form.
Kavelashvili primarily works with acrylic, watercolours on wood, linen and paper, often adding tempera, gouache, or black ink when a different expressive quality is required. He frequently experiments with materials in unconventional ways-mixing chalk, various powders with watercolor, varnish, or combining shimmering ink with acrylic, among others.

Visually, his paintings appear as though they have emerged from the transcendental. They are characterized by soft, airy, multilayered compositions, fluid forms, and a distinct color palette in which tones seem to radiate light, move, and vibrate. Transparency plays a one of the central roles, symbolizing the moment when coarse matter becomes ethereal. Lines often serve as both structure and driving force, though they are sometimes hidden beneath the surface, while the forms themselves carry individual traits—like living energies in constant transformation.

For Kavelashvili, painting is a meditative act and a way to connect with the divine—to translate spiritual energy into material form and to explore the universe and the self. His works invite viewers into a state of contemplation, offering a glimpse beyond logic and perception, and into a deep experience of revelation
