Art Gallery Vanda is one of the very first private art galleries in Georgia. Established in 1993 by twin siblings Vanda and Alexander Mujiri, it has since evolved into one of the country's premier private galleries. Its primary aim is to showcase and promote contemporary Georgian art and contribute to the development of the local art market.
Vanda Art Gallery collaborates with numerous Georgian artists, some of whom are exclusively represented. It also actively partners with foreign artists and galleries, engaging in new projects. Since 1995, the gallery has been actively promoting Georgian art internationally, participating in major art festivals and exhibitions.
A key focus of the gallery is to discover and promote young artists and new talents, making it an important platform for aspiring artists. Over its 30-year existence, the gallery has hosted up to seven hundred exhibitions, gaining extensive experience and recognition both locally and internationally. The gallery also has considerable experience in curating private and corporate collections.
Vanda Art Gallery unveils the vibrant tapestry of contemporary Georgian art, illuminating its dynamic processes for both our local community and international guests.
artists presented
At TAF 2026 (Tbilisi Art Fair), Gallery “Vanda” presents two artists – Kako Topuria and Rita Khachaturian.
The work of both artists is widely recognized both in Georgia and abroad. Their works hold a distinguished place in private and museum collections across many countries.
Rita Khachaturian is a contemporary Georgian artist considered one of the important representatives of the new generation. In 2007, she graduated from the Faculty of Easel Graphics at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, and since then has actively participated in Georgian and international exhibitions and art projects.
Her work mainly addresses existential themes – life and death, fear, the inner nature of the human being, and spiritual condition. Rita Khachaturian works in easel art, sculpture, and various media of contemporary art. Her works are often united in series and represent a multifaceted exploration of a particular idea.
Rita Khachaturian’s large-scale monochrome charcoal drawings on paper, along with several miniatures that will be presented at TAF, reveal her work from an entirely new perspective. Through new forms and expressive language, the artist establishes a special emotional connection with the viewer.
Kako Topuria was born in Tbilisi in 1960. In 1983, he graduated from the Faculty of Art History and Theory at Tbilisi State University. He lives and works in France and Georgia.
His professional knowledge as an art historian is enriched by expertise in the fields of traditional Georgian monumental painting, sculptural plastic arts, repoussé metalwork, enamel, and ceramics.
In addition to painting, graphics, and sculpture, Kako Topuria also works with installations.
His art is intellectual and emotional – seemingly simple at first glance, yet multilayered and profound. The distinctive depth of his palette, color contrasts, symbolic metaphors, and elements of primitivism give Kako’s works a unique expressiveness. Traditional vision is transformed into the language of contemporary art, creating an emotionally charged atmosphere that makes his work dynamic, vivid, and easily recognizable.
