Kakabadze Foundation
Founded in 2012, Kakabadze Foundation actively promotes a broader understanding of David Kakabadze’s artistic legacy by providing access to the artist’s family’s collection and archives.
The Foundation plays a critical role in elucidating the relevance of both existing and new ideas, with an attempt to preserve and expand access to the artist’s heritage.
It’s Collection and Archives comprise various materials including, artworks, sketches, manuscripts, and printed matter (reference books, catalogues, periodicals, brochures and ephemera).
During Tbilisi Art Fair in 2024, Kakabadze Foundation will present a showcase of David Kakabadze’s works and archives. Many of the works on view have rarely been exhibited before. These include abstract works that Kakabadze has created in 1920s in Paris and black and white photographs of Constructivist Compositions, taken by the artist - the unique series that combine strictly geometric and organic forms, creating shiny and dynamic physical spaces with the use of different materials: among them metal, optical tools and electronic light bulbs.
Kakabadze Foundation continues to play a critical role in elucidating the relevance of both existing and new ideas, with an attempt to preserve and expand access to the artist’s heritage.
The design of the displays and spatial solutions will be informed by the content and will attempt to integrate Kakabadze’s works into a contemporary reading and practice.
