Tato Akhalkatsishvili (born 1979) is a multimedia artist who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. In1996-2003 he was enrolled at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Faculty of Fine Art. In addition tofine art drawings, he also creates installations, objects, collages and videos.The main concept of Tato Akhalkatsishvili’s works encompasses the confrontation of a disconcertingunreality, pain, loneliness, childhood memories, uncertainty, genetically accumulated experiences,a search for the transcendent, hope for a mysterious future, changes, and empathy; these indelible components of human life he transforms into visual metaphors. Since 2000, Akhalkatsishvili has actively participated in major international group exhibitions and art fairs, including: START Art Fair (Saatchi Gallery, London, 2015), Vienna Contemporary (2017), Art Geneva (2018), and Art Dubai (2018). In Dubai (2018) he was selected as a resident artist from among eleven international artists. In 2017, two of Akhalkatsishvili’s works were sold at the Phillips auction ‘Off White.’ A large number of his works are preserved at the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts, at the National Gallery and in various private collections both in Georgia and abroad.
