MARC FRANCO

Marc Franco is Belgian. He has worked as international civil servant, in the academic world and as consultant. He was involved in the preparation of Central European countries for the accession to the European Union. He represented the EU as ambassador to Russia (2004-2009) and to Egypt (2009-2012). In Russia as well as in Egypt he actively supported cultural cooperation with the EU, organising exhibitions, concerts, round tables, support for cooperation between cultural operators in Russia and the EU. After leaving the EU institutions he now works as advisor for cultural diplomacy for BOZAR (Centre of Fine Arts in Brussels). In that capacity he actively developed cooperation with cultural operators in Russia, and countries of the Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) .
