The Roza Azora Gallery was established in 1991 shortly before the failed coup that led to the collapse of communist rule. The new gallery's spirit reflected that promise of change and freedom that inspired a whole generation.
The founders were the artist Elena Yazykova, the future director of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art Marina Loshak and the tv producer Lyuba Shaks. Since than the gallery has regularly taken part in the Art Moscow fair of contemporary art, as well the Moscow Biennale. It has also staged a series of exhibitions in collaboration with leading Russian museums including the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art, the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg, the State Shusev Museum of Architecture, the Literary Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art and the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art .
Roza Azora has emerged as one of the most active representatives of Russian contemporary art. Over the last two years, the gallery has organized more than 30 exhibitions.
The Gallery works with such artists as Maria Arendt, Andrey Bartenev, Alena Kirtsova, Marina Koldobskaya, Pavel Leonov, Andrew Logan, Ivan Loungine, Natalia Nesterova and Ivan Yazykov. It gives a chance to young undiscovered artists to exhibit themselves but also has a tradition of hosting established contemporary classics working in various art forms.

Ivan Yazykov
Ivan Yazykov was born in 1975 in Moscow. He is a graduate of Stroganov art institute (Moscow) in graphic design and fonts. In 1999 he started working on his project-"Book of letters" (russian alphabet). 33 graphic have been completed so far. His other large project is "Microdramas". 365 small graphic poetic pages about small lifestories and dramas. He is also a DJ and a drummer.
At the fair the artist will unveil his new work that took him over three years to complete. In 2007 Ivan began a series of miniatures called Microdramas. Drawings of minor everyday incidents: a hole in the skirting board, a scrap of newspaper, a discarded bag in the air, a broken razor... It prompted the creation of "Repair of disposable things", the new work representing what is no longer a drama, but on the opposite, its successful resolution by way of repairing, restoration and other ways to care for the broken and damaged things.
